Shaw treats the majority of their carpet products with R2X® Stain and Soil Repellent protection. Unlike Shaws competitors that provide a stain protection application that can wash and wear-off, R2X® Stain and Soil Repellent does NOT wash or wear-off. Shaws unique R2X® application process allows the fiber to have total fiber coverage of the R2X® Stain and Soil Repellent protection. Shaw has exclusively patented this technology as it is chemically bonded with every fiber of the carpet.
Solution Dyed
Worried about carpet staining? Solution Dyed Fiber may be right for you! A “Solution Dyed Fiber” means the dye color is part of the fiber itself and not washed into the fiber. Because the dye color is part of the fiber itself, the carpet has an enhanced level of stain and color fastness protection. Solution-Dyed is manufactured in Polyester, Polypropylene, and Nylon fibers.
R2X® Stain and Soil Repellent
Nanoloc Smartstrand
Nanoloc™ provides a spill and soil shield for quick and easy clean-up. Nanoloc™ is built-in to all SmartStrand Triexta Fiber carpets. It is the only renewable carpet fiber that is certified free of harmful substances. Nanoloc™ SmartStrand Forever Clean has no dye sites making it virtually impossible for spills to attach to the fiber meaning it is extremely difficult for spills to become stains. Nanoloc™ technology is permanent protection that will never wash or wear off.
Scotchgard® Protector
Mohawk has partnered with 3M, a leader in stain protection. The Scotchgard® Protector Advanced Repel Technology prevents stains from making its way into the carpet fiber. Scotchgard™ is applied at the carpet mill and treats the carpet fiber from top to bottom. However, although it is not specified on how long the Scotchgard™ protection will last, it is recommended that a professional carpet cleaner re-apply Scotchgard protection after every cleaning. It is recommended to steam clean also known as hot-water extraction cleaning once every 12-18 months.
Microban
Phenix Flooring is the only carpet manufacturer that provides built-in antimicrobial technology. Phenix has partnered with Microban to infuse its technology into carpet. This carpet is inherently hypoallergenic and offers odor-neutralizing capabilities. The built-in technology provides lifetime protection against the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
